London (UK) - Tuesday 10th August - Young Turkish driver Can Artam
has signed to race for the Super Nova Racing team for the remaining
three races of the FIA International Formula 3000 season. Super
Nova is the official Jordan Grand Prix Junior Team and is run by
well know David Sears. The team has a close relationship with the
F1 team and its ultimate goal is to operate as a scout and develop
drivers for the top series.
Can will turn out for the team in this weekend's round at the Hungaroring
in Budapest, Hungary.
Commenting on the prospect of seeing out the season with Super
Nova, the Jordan Formula One Junior team, Can said: 'I am really
looking forward to competing with Super Nova. The team has a successful
record in Formula 3000 competition and take a very professional
approach to their racing.
'I am confident I will learn a lot from the engineers and management
at Super Nova at this important stage in my career. I hope I can
repay the team's faith in me with a solid race performance in Hungary.'
Twenty-two-year-old Can has collected a number of notable "firsts"
since he started racing in 1999 - First Turkish driver to win a
race in the USA; first Turkish driver to win an International FIA
race; first Turkish driver to race in British F3 and Euro Formula
Renault V6 and first Turkish driver to race in the FIA International
Formula 3000 Championship.
Prior to joining Super Nova, Can had been racing for the Coloni
Motorsports team. i-tech Dynamic, part of the Hutchison Whampoa
Group, will continue to support Can as his main sponsor.
